Maria is a professional Boulder area belly dancer. I have studied in the past with various teachers. I also take workshops, as most professionals do, and go to retreats whenever I can fit it into my schedule. I try to do at least two per year. It is a great way to keep up with what is going on in the national dance community and meeting other professionals from other states, and gives you an opportunity to learn from other famous teachers. I believe in constantly learning and growing in ANY dance form. I have been dancing my entire life; it is just something I do and have always done.

Growing up in New York City in Brooklyn and Queens in a large Italian-American family helps to keep one grounded in some sort of reality. My husband happens to be from the same neighborhood, but from the north side, not the south, (people from New York or another big city will understand!), other people, just nod. My husband also grew up in an even larger Italian-American family. We left New York about 14 years ago, and never looked back!! When we get homesick, which is not often, we hop on a plane, take the subway into Manhattan, act like tourists, and after three days or so, remember why we left! No, I haven't lost my accent, and gave up trying!

I also work for the Boulder Creek Festival running and booking acts for the "BOULDER COMMUNITY DANCE STAGE" At the famous Boulder Creek Festival during the three day Memorial Day Weekend. I also work for Boulder Creek Events Event Company as their entertainment agency.
